Business leadership & growth

Throughout my career, I have successfully led and grown businesses that, whilst not in crisis, were not delivering their full potential.

Two examples are described below;

Higgs & Hill

At Higgs & Hill, I profitably grew, by six-fold, a London & South East major projects building division during the early 1990’s recession, over a 4 year period. This was achieved by diversification from an initial mainly central London office construction focus to include retail, health and sports work.

One such project was the construction of the new North, Mathew Harding, Stand for Chelsea FC, where working directly with the Chairman of the day, Ken Bates, was an interesting and educational experience!.

Pearce

At Pearce, after the turnaround phase, I very successfully re-grew the business from £120M pa to £320M pa. This was achieved by re-establishing Pearce in its local South West & South Wales markets, as well as simultaneously growing our presence in the large-format retail sector, winning several major new customers and extending our capability to include new build as well as refurbishment & fit out services, to become the UK market leader. In the process, the business was announced "Contractor of the Year" in the 2007 CJ Construction Industry Awards
